Fenville
LAMAA is located within the bustling town of Fenville, in the country of Legarro. Fenville is the sort of quaint, cheerfully medieval town most commonly seen at Renaissance festivals - modern building techniques mixed with old-world charm. Fenville is divided into the following areas:
Academy District -- The actual grounds of the Academy and Junior Academy, bordered by a large wall of white stone. The Junior Academy, a private school that mostly handles students from the country of Legarro, is kept well-isolated from the main Academy, mostly for the safety of the kids attending the Junior Academy.
Alchemist's Row -- The 'magic district' of Fenville, named because of its high collective of alchemists and potion-peddlers, as well as get-rich-quick enchanters and conjurers and the occasional reputable business. At one end of Alchemist's Row is 'Crystal Paradise', a shop that sells mana crystals imported from Miloch; at the other end is 'Smiths Ahoy', a smithy owned by an ex-mariner named Gordon Kreely who has enchanters on staff to give his tools an extra bit of shine and polish.
ATLAS Station -- The Arcydean Transport: Land/Air Sea pickup point for this region is located in Fenville, thus providing easy access to the Academy. ATLAS provides both land and air service from this location; the ATLAS system provides direct transport to the countries of Nexus, Bek'lar, Crommel, Legarro, Miloch, Eio, Rosa Noir, Davalance, Avel'Nikash, Avylyss, Khialan, Grenadine, Fenisto, and Vox, with additional destinations available for additional fees.
Temple District -- Dedicated to the many gods, the Temple District is a collection of churches, temples, and shrines that are required to set up shop in one specified area of town. As one might imagine, this leads to some squabbles over turf, and many of the lesser religions are forced to settle for small shrines and statues.
Workers' District -- The lower-class section of town, with small residences, rented buildings, and shops catering to those of lesser means. Quick-cooked food stands are much more common than restaurants here, and equipment stores tend to contain prefabricated goods rather than quality items. The pawn shops sometimes have an interesting selection, though.
Craftsmans' District -- The middle-class section of town, home to inexpensive restaurants, tailors, weaponsmiths, and other businesses that require talent. Most residences are extensions of shops, although some of the more affluent craftsmen are capable of affording separate housing.
Artisans' District -- The upper-class section of town, home to the wealthy of Fenville, and the more exclusive and expensive of entertainments and luxury stores. Large private residences take up much of the area, although expensive fashion stores, importers, artists, and great restaurants have a strong foothold in this district.
Tavern's Line -- Crossing directly between the Workers' and Craftsmans' District is the Tavern's Line, a concentration of local drinking establishments along this road. Frequented by lower-to-middle-class people, and adventurers searching for information, the Tavern's Line is also a popular party destination for bored students. Academy Security is frequently called to assist in breaking up barfights and extricating students.
The Bard's Requiem -- This peculiar tavern, formerly the Bardic Circle Pub, was formerly owned by the current headmaster of the Academy, Sam Berrydrink. At the moment, it is presently owned by a peculiar gentleman who uses it as a conduit to his personal series of microworlds.
Mayor's House -- The current mayor of Fenville lives in this palatial estate during his term in office, which also doubles as the Fenville Town Hall. Elections are held every three years, with any five-year resident of Fenville eligible for election. (Student housing does not count towards this residency requirement, although a few enterprising students have succeeded in becoming Mayor over the years, in order to declare Free Beer Day or other such sillinesses.)
