The GM's Simple Play Rules:

1) The GM's rule is final. If you can disprove gravity, reality-test firearm ranges, or argue quantum metaphysics, the GM may listen, but his ruling on the subject is the deciding factor (even above the basic game rules.)

2) Don't be a dick. If you continually annoy the GM and players, you will be suspended from playing or ejected from the game entirely. This will hopefully remain a rare occurrence, but we mean it - don't be a dick.

3) Don't be stupid. If you spend your time being intentionally and/or terminally clueless as a player, you will be suspended or ejected. Asking questions is fine; asking five variations of the same question on a daily basis is not.

4) The system we are using for play is GURPS, 4th Edition; contact the GM for details on how to obtain a copy for reading. Characters have 100 points available for character creation, with a limit of -50 points of disadvantages and -5 points of quirks. The GM will help you create your character sheet, so don't worry too much; however, once your character sheet has been written, it cannot be rewritten at will, so be sure you have what you want!

5) No supporting cast! If you want to play multiple characters, you have to write up multiple character sheets. If you want a specific character (like your character's mother) in play, ask the GM and he may make that NPC happen. (The GM is not required to warn you before making characters from your past show up, though, especially if you have a suitable trait!)

6) Games will be played in live sessions via mIRC; logs will be posted via journal. Regular game sessions will be held by the GM at times and dates of the GM's choosing; characters may chat and interact (through mIRC sessions, AIM chat, journal posts, or whatever other media their players feel like), but will receive no game benefit from doing so.

7) Any scene with overt sexual content (characters involved in seduction, for instance) will have a fade-to-black, and only as much description as is necessary and important (noticing a peculiar tattoo or other distinctive mark, for example, or getting a look at the inside of someone's flat), as will other scenes where such is prudent. Personal roleplayed activities between characters are their own business and do not receive game benefits or other special results.

8) Once your character is in play, you no longer have direct control of events that are not within your character's control. You can, for instance, try to get your character pregnant by having lots of unprotected sex following the rhythm method, but the GM decides how likely it is to work. You can roleplay your character as a slurring drunk, but the GM adjucates their actual state of intoxication. You can describe your attack all you want, but you still need to roll to hit. And so on.

9) You acknowledge by filling out an application, or submitting any other material to Lab Arc Designs in any fashion, that that material becomes the creative property of Lab Arc Designs to use at their own discretion, and that they are not required to credit you for such unless arrangements have been specifically made for such. This means primarily that your characters may become NPCs under the GM's control should you voluntarily or involuntarily leave the game.
