Star Power

Star Power is an important factor of being an Actor - higher Star Power can give you greater choice over what Roles you accept (or are offered), and can provide other Perks and benefits. As a rule, when two Actors want the same Role, the Actor with more Star Power gets it -- and when Casting chooses Roles for people, Star Power (and Talent) plays an important role in who gets offered the best jobs.

Your current level of Star Power depends on your Renown. You start out with a certain amount of Renown based on your Actor audition with the Director, and earn more through performances in Shows and other events.

0 stars: <= 0 Renown (Extra)
As an Extra, you are at the bottom of the heap in show business. You never get to choose your own Roles, and as a rule, you don't get very good work, either. You can only participate in one Show at a time, and Security will escort you from the Actor's Lounge if you try to hang out there (so give it up).

1/2 star: 1 to 999 Renown (Aspiring Actor)
Aspiring Actors are not quite Actors yet -- they're still not allowed in the exclusive Actor's Lounge, and they're still not allowed to choose their own Roles. However, they will be considered for anything except Leading Roles, especially if they have skills in the necessary areas.

1 star: 1000 to 1999 Renown (Second-String Actor)
Assuming your audition goes well, you will start your career as a Second-String Actor. Second-String Actors can choose any 1-star Role they want, within reason, and will be considered for any Role (including Leading Roles), if Casting decides they have the right skills for it. Second-String Actors can access the Actor's Lounge, and are not limited in the number of Shows they can participate in.

1 1/2 stars: 2000 to 3999 Renown (Successful Actor)
You've made it through the basic hurdles of being an Actor, and you're moving up in the world. Successful Actors can choose any 1-Star Role they want, and receive more consideration for Roles than their 1-star counterparts.

2 stars: 4000 to 6999 Renown (Talented Actor)
Two Stars out of ten might not sound like much, but it's still twice as good as your average Actor just starting out. Talented Actors receive more consideration for Roles than Successful Actors, and also gain a Perk (???).
