Television and Media of Truman Sims

Have you been wondering about the names of all those TV shows you hear casually mentioned? Well, wonder no more, as this little section is devoted to giving those unsung heroes of brand-namedom their fifteen seconds of Internet fame! This section will be expanded as we learn more...

STV Shows:
The Truman Sim -
If you don't know what this is, perhaps you'd better go back to the index. Seriously. Go now. Anyhow... The Truman Sim is the true story of the life of Truman Simone, the only person in the artificially created town of Simsville who is not working specifically for STV.
The Young and the Simful
- A classic soap opera featuring the lives of several families with intertwining romantic connections that threaten to disrupt not only the families, but the lives of those around them. Currently the top-ranking show on STV.
Forensic Study - Currently ranked second in the STV lineup, Forensic Study follows the investigations of Detective Daryl Shadow, an investigator who uses his knowledge of minutia and trivia to solve previously unsolvable crimes. The Prints Charming fingerprint scanner is one of their most successful tie-in products to date, although replicas of the other tools of Shadow's trade have not yet passed Quality Assurance testing and were deemed inappropriate for children under the age of 12.
Survivor Island - This seasonal show features eight unlucky Sims who are forced to share an island, with the Sim with the lowest number of aspiration points being removed every week until only one (the 'survivor') wins. Defeated contestants have their aspiration points converted into money trees before departure; these money trees are the only available source of income, and are necessary to purchase food and improvements for the island! Last season was a tense showdown between Anna Marshall and Key Donovan, after their surprisingly successful date put them vastly ahead of the other contestants, who were unable to catch up. In the end, Key triumphed, and took home a variety of furniture including the hot tub he used to score so many aspiration points from woohooing in.
Enspelled - A teen-oriented drama about a coven of four witches who use their magical powers to attempt to improve their lives, often with comedic or unexpected results. Very popular in the teenage to young adult market.
The Sim Bin - A realm between reality and imagination, where time stands still and the unbelievable is only a few steps away. 'The Sim Bin' features unusual scenarios, generally involving Sims whose own personality flaws and motivations cause them or those around them massive problems and doom. Currently in its third season, 'The Sim Bin' is hosted by renowned voice actor Roger Newell.
Mystery Simantic Theater - A vampire, a robot, an alien, and an ordinary guy named Joe are trapped on a space station created by the evil mad science organization Simulacrum Industries. In order to earn the precious supplies they need to live, the foursome must placate their observers by suffering through the worst stories ever created.
Mr. Plumbob - Starring half-alien Astariel Norman, Mr. Plumbob is a children's show that explains phenomena of the Sim world. Why are toddlers immune to fire? How does electrocution happen? How can you do that neat floating trick Mr. Plumbob does? All of these are explained in this weekly show. (Mr. Plumbob is currently off the air as a result of a court injunction due to the repeated deaths of Mr. Plumbob's partner, Lucky. Despite Lucky always returning to the show by next week's airing, network censors feel that it could encourage other Sims to tempt the Reaper a bit too much.)

STV Special Productions:
University Wild Times - A series involving the interesting activities of university co-eds. Originally aired on STV, but legal concerns have put filming the next season off until they can determine the rights of streakers and hot-tubbers.
Don't Tease The Plant - A short-lived series involving the filming of the demise and other misfortunes suffered by Sims who just can't seem to resist teasing a Cow Plant. Cancelled after half a season due to staffing concerns.

Other Programming:
The Simkees -
SimStation's newest show, the epic story of a cactus who suffers through the trials and tribulations of living with a band of musicians.
Lifestyles of the Barely Rich - Showcases houses that look glamorous, but are owned by Sims with a net worth of $100,000 or less.
SCPD Action - This police drama features the men and women of SimCity law enforcement. All suspects are innocent until caught by an officer and dragged into a cop car.

Movies and Other Content:
It Came From Behind
- This B-movie classic was one of William Christof's first ventures into the show business industry, and is alternately hailed as the best 'aliens invade Earth' movie of all time, or the best example of why movies generally get a proper budget. The basic plot (aliens attempt to exterminate the human race, only ultimately to be defeated by roach-borne disease) is somewhat trite, but devoted science fiction fans have been hoping for a sequel for years.
The Scissor Massacre - A low-budget slasher film in which a deranged asylum inmate runs around with scissors, terrifying and slaughtering a busful of sorority girls at a lakeside spa. The movie ends when the heroine, Tanya (played by actress Erika Barnes) defeats the psycho by tripping him, resulting in his self-impalement.
Three Won't Fit - A romantic comedy about a love triangle between office secretary Mary Hamilton (played by actress Greta Alba) and her two best friends, George Wheeler (played by actor Thomas Shaker) and Glen Murphy (played by actor Patrick Steele.) The title line comes from a conversation in which Mary informs both partners flatly that her bed is only big enough for one lover. In the end, Glen attempts to solve the problem by finding another woman to fall in love with George, only to fall for her himself.
