While in most cases, those of wealth charged with a particular city or region are in turn responsible for personally funding its defense, the Imperial Army is funded from tributes across the Empire, and is staffed with mostly skilled veterans, many from the ranks of the Glories. The Army is divided into infantry, cavalry, ranged, seige, and support divisions, and is very well organized; however, it typically takes some time to mobilize, and the Glories are usually relied upon to handle outbreaks. In the event of a major war, the Army is known to draft from the populace to bolster its reserves, and some Glories have attained their combat experience from emergency draft service in the Imperial army.
